2009 Chamber Advantage Card Offers

The Chamber of Manitowoc County Inc. has announced that the Chamber's Board of Directors has approved a building renovation project of the Chamber's existing facility at 1515 Memorial Drive, in Manitowoc.

The current Chamber building was constructed in the early 1970's and has 1,200 square feet on the main floor. According to Chamber Executive Director Karen Szyman, the building and its systems are in need of an upgrade, and after evaluating several options the Chamber Board decided a facelift and remodeling project would be the best route. "This project allows the Chamber to remain fiscally responsible to its members, while ensuring that we are able to provide a sound structure that is suitable for long term use and can serve our membership well into the future."

The renovation project will upgrade the building and its existing systems, as well as provide an aesthetic facelift.  The Chamber is anticipating a renovation cost of approximately $300,000 and is hoping to fund the project primarily through grants, sponsorships, and donations (both in-kind and monetary).

Anyone interested in making a personal or corporate donation to the project can contact Szyman at the Chamber: 684-5575, or kszyman@chambermanitowoccounty.org

The Chamber is anticipating a spring 2009 start date for renovation project to begin.

Leadership Manitowoc County class gives back

As a part of Leadership Manitowoc County, each year the class spends a day traveling to various human services organizations in Manitowoc County.  This year, after the class had made their visit to Peter's Pantry, and had learned how the food pantry did not have any meat for the upcoming holidays, the group decided to do something about it.

Everyone in the class pitched in a cash donation, and the class was able to raise $170.00, that they decided they were going to use to buy turkey's to donate to Peter's Pantry.

With the help and generosity of Festival Foods, the class was able to purchase 40 turkeys to be donated to Peter's Pantry!

Above:  Members of this year's Leadership Manitowoc County class along with John Bilski, Manager of Festival Foods, help representatives from Peter's Pantry load 40 turkeys to be delivered to the food pantry.

This act of kindness by the this year's Leadership Manitowoc County class, will help make the holidays a little bit brighter this year for those in need this year.
